United Airlines announced new direct flights between Washington Dulles Airport and Cape Town, becoming the first airline to provide nonstop roundtrip service from the U.S. capital to South Africa.

Etihad Airways announced its return to South Africa that will allow holidaymakers three new quarantine-free destinations for the coming winter season.

Emirates will be expanding its operations in and out of South Africa, boosting its schedule to 28 weekly flights by October.

Cape Town has been named by World Rugby as the host venue for the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens and this will be the first time that a Rugby World Cup Sevens will be hosted on the African continent.
