Pera Museum Hosts Immigrant Artists

Istanbul’s Pera Museum will host an interdisciplinary performance that combines documentary theater, sound installations, visual arts and live music as part of its latest exhibition Istanbul Today.

Four immigrant artists who are living in Istanbul will perform in the world premiere of the Dialogue Project - Istanbul on March 16 at the museum’s cafe, according to a statement issued Monday by the museum.

The performance is part of the museum’s ongoing exhibition Istanbul Today, which deals with migration.

“Dialogue Project brings together immigrant artists who are trying to become part of the creative industries in cosmopolitan cities in Europe, such as Istanbul, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels and Vienna,” the statement added.

Participating in the project, Enzo Ikah from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Marina Nazarova from Ukraine and Saghar Daeri and Ali Bonyadi from Iran will share their insights and experiences in Istanbul through performances in seven languages including Turkish, English, Persian, Ukrainian, Russian, Lingala and French.

 

 

The performance divided into sections titled as "Intro", "Journey" and "Home / Another World” will be  narrated in 7 different languages; Turkish, English, Farsi, Ukranian, Russian, Lingala, and French.

The project, which has an interdisciplinary feature in itself, aims to contribute to strengthening the connection of migrant and refugee groups with the society, through the use of sound installations, visual arts and live music and with its unifying, inclusive and diversity-oriented discourse.
